Ā Bloc Carpentry is the small building business of Matt Blomeley, a qualified builder and creative. Ā Bloc Carpentry provides straightforward, cost effective and stylish renovations, repairs and maintenance.

‘Ā Bloc’ is a french cycling term for going all out. Matt was a New Zealand representative cyclist competing around NZ and internationally into his early twenties, so the term felt appropriate for the physicality of building.

Prior to building, Matt completed a BDes (hons) VisComm at Unitec (2001-2004) and worked in the creative sector for a number of years as a gallery manager, board member, arts advisor, curator, coordinator and writer.

Matt, his partner (artist Kathryn Tsui), along with their youngest daughter, relocated to Tairua in 2016 where he re-trained in the building industry. He is the proud father of two daughters. In his spare time Matt keeps fit mountain biking and surfing.
